RadiologyInfo for Patients from ACR and RSNA
(http://www.radiologyinfo.org/)
"What is interventional radiology? And is it suitable for my disease treatment?" RadiologyInfo is designed to answer questions related to the many radiologic procedures and therapies available to patients and their families. This website provides information for patients who may be preparing for a baseline mammogram, learning more about a child's X-ray, or who are researching radiation oncology (cancer therapy) procedures.
RadiologyInfo covers most medical radiology, including diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology and radiation therapy, and tells patients and other interested parties how various X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, radiation therapy and other procedures are performed. It also addresses what the patient may experience and how they should prepare for examinations. The website does not yet cover all radiologic procedures and therapies, but is updated frequently with new information.
RadiologyInfo is developed jointly by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). All material on the RadiologyInfo website is reviewed and approved by experts in the field of radiology from ACR and RSNA, as well as other professional radiology organizations.
ACR was introduced in a previous issue of Japanaese Journal of Clinical Oncology (2004;34:166). RSNA was founded in 1915, and is one of the most respected societies associated with radiology in North America. The mission of RSNA is to promote and develop the highest standards in radiology and related sciences through education and research. RSNA seeks to provide radiologists and allied health scientists with educational programs and materials of the highest quality, and to constantly improve the content and value of these educational activities. RSNA seeks to promote research in all aspects of radiology and related sciences, including basic clinical research in the promotion of quality healthcare. RSNA seeks to foster closer fellowship among all radiologists and greater cooperation among radiologists and members of other branches of medicine and allied healthcare professionals.
