Message from the Editor-in-Chief
First, I would like to thank readers, authors, reviewers, Associate Editors and Editors for your contribution to the journal. JJCO has had another successful year, and in 2007, it received 527 submissions. Total number of submissions in 2006 was 427, which means submissions have grown by 10%. 133 articles have been published in 2007, and the acceptance rate for 2007 is 26%. The acceptance rate is lower compared to 33% in 2006, indicating the rising quality of JJCO. Our Impact Factor has also increased again, and is now 1.376. Owing to the character of the journal, number of published articles from Japan is the greatest, followed by Turkey, Korea, China, Taiwan and India. However, we are seeing submissions from abroad increasing, and welcome this growth.
The greatest movement in 2007 was the move of the Editorial Office from Foundation for Promotion of Cancer Research to Oxford University Press. I regard this as a necessary step for JJCO to become a truly international journal in the field of clinical oncology. Oxford University Press (OUP) is an international publisher and among their collection are renowned journals such as the JNCI and Annals of Oncology. I expect that this collaboration with OUP will bring new ideas for development of the journals, as well as collaborated marketing with these journals which will help expose our content to a more wider audience.
The quality of clinical studies in Japan is rising rapidly, and it is my aim to develop JJCO so the best clinical data will be published in the Journal. As there are many problems to overcome such as duplicate submissions and publication of case reports, I ask all relevant parties for your continuing help.
I really wish the year 2008 would be truly successful for JJCO and prosperous for all the related contributing people for JJCO.
